| Get ready for an exciting day of training and grassroots advocacy to improve the health of babies in Wisconsin! At Capitol Day, you will learn what you need to know to become an effective grassroots advocate – a lifelong skill in shaping public policy. In the afternoon, we’ll put those skills to work. We’ll head over to the Capitol as part of a team to talk to legislators about Birth Defects Surveillance – a critical tool to help researchers find the causes and prevention of birth defects in Wisconsin.
The objectives for this event include:
-
Train staff and volunteers on current MOD public affairs issues and priorities.
-
Train staff and volunteers on grassroots strategies to communicate and influence legislators.
-
Provide a venue for staff and volunteers to meet and establish relationships with their legislators.
-
Educate and influence legislators to support MOD issues and priorities in the legislative session.
-
Provide staff and volunteers with creative ideas and strategies to integrate public affairs with program and fundraising events in their communities.
(Scroll down for a tentative schedule.)
Please let us know if you would like to attend so that we can reserve you a spot! RSVP to Pamela Pfeffer, State Director of Program Services at (800) 669-9255 or ppfeffer@marchofdimes.com.
