(Cullman, AL) – Saturday, August 17th, 2013, hundreds will join together for a concert by the legendary Percy Sledge in an effort to raise funds for the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes. The fundraiser is being held in honor of those who have contributed to improving the chances of survival, and the subsequent long term health of babies born premature.
JOY! for the March of Dimes is an inaugural event that hopes to grow into an annual event in North Central Alabama. Its goal is to raise $25K for the March of Dimes. Funds raised help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies, fund research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies’ lives, and provide comfort to families who have a baby in newborn intensive care.
“The March of Dimes is honored to have Joy! For the March of Dimes benefit our Alabama Chapter and is grateful for the support we have received from the Cullman community,” stated State Director Camille Epps.
Sponsors for the event include: Cullman Primary Care OB/GYN Specialty Group, TP Country Club, and Cullman Regional Medical Center, McGriff Tire, Merchants Bank, R&D Promo, Superstation 101.1 the Source, Bevintel of Alabama and Leland and AJ of Leland Live.

It is 2013 and the March of Dimes is celebrating its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help all babies have a healthy start in life. Early research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefitted from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education. The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health.
